It's been an eventful month at Octant, and we've got lots of exciting updates for you.

In epoch 2, we had users locking 366 wallets. 231.25 ETH went to 24 projects in personal donations and matched rewards. Donations had a 58x multiplier, meaning even small allocations had an impact on public goods projects. If that's not your cue to participate in epoch 3, we don't know what is!
Our top projects based on ETH raised are: ⛓️🛡 Protocol Guild 36.55 ETH 💧 Drips 21.38 ETH 🥩 EthStaker18.35 ETH 🌟 Hypercerts 16.38 ETH 💗 L2BEAT 16.11 ETH 🛡 Revoke.cash 15.31 ETH 🤓 Open Source Observer 12.96 ETH 🟢 Funding the Commons 12.15 ETH 🐙 MetaGame 11.39 ETH 🐦 Rotki 11.06 ETH
We had a fantastic week at ETHDenver. Our cups are full with all things public goods, governance, and positive-sum thinking. Some highlights from the week:
Epoch 3 applications window: February 11 - March 13, 2024
Now for some epoch 3 updates. There's 5 more days to apply for funding in epoch 3. We've got 11 slots open for new projects.
Your project is eligible if you:
✅ Are committed to open-source technology and sharing results ✅ Are transparent about how exactly funding will be used✅ Are advancing values of freedom and privacy. No surveillance and handling of personal data✅ Are supporting decentralization in various fields. For e.g., building web3 projects✅ Have social proof, and your project is recognizable in the category you're building in✅✅✅ Bonus points if your project is GLM, and Golem Network compatible.
❌ For-profit projects, and financial products do not qualify for Octant funding. That means no grants funding for lending, investing, trading products.
➡️ Click here to apply to epoch 3. ➡️ Detailed submission process here.
Dates that matter:➡ Temp-check deadline: March 14, 2024➡ Project submission deadline: March 17, 2024➡ Community vote: March 18 - 22, 2024➡ Epoch 3 allocation window: April 16 - 30, 2024
If you've got any questions or want feedback before you apply, you can reach us on Discord here or on X at @OctantApp.
If you want to participate in epoch 3 as a user, make sure you've locked your GLM in Octant. Locked GLM = you being eligible for ETH rewards you can keep or donate. Donations average around a 50x leverage from the matching pool, so that's helluva impact.
💰 User rewards are calculated using a time-weighted average. The greater the amount of GLM locked and the longer its duration, the higher the rewards.
A major reminder: locking GLM this round will mean additional rewards on top of your regular user rewards because we've changed a few things at Octant. We've introduced the Participation Promotion Fund (PPF) – a fund specifically for GLM lockers.
So what does that mean for you?
The tldr is you get more funds for locking GLM each epoch, from the PPF. The bonus rewards will slow down, and will phase out once we reach a 35% lock-in rate. But until then, it's 💰💰💰 season at Octant.

We're excited to be partnering with the Green Pill Network (GPN) to support community-driven initiatives that make a real difference.
How will this work?
We're providing 10 ETH for the rounds matching pool that's powered by quadratic funding on Grants Stack. This is a mechanism that matches contributions from individuals to the matching pool. The higher the number of individual donors, the more matched funds a project gets!
If you have a project and want to apply, submit your application before 3/11. You can qualify for a grant if you or one of your teammates are part of a GPN local chapter, GPN Guild, a guild leading your own project, or a project that has partnered with GPN in the past.

We're excited to support Funding the Commons for digital public goods and web3, at their upcoming conference on AI and the Open Web in the SF Bay Area, April 13-14th.
Previous events have featured thought-leaders such as Vitalik Buterin (Ethereum) and Juan Benet (Protocol Labs). This time they're also introducing the inaugural Earth Commons, focusing on funding and governance for nature's commons.
